Giving birth to triplets at 29 weeks: Bex, author of “Mum’s The Word” shares her NICU experience | S3E44

When our guest today, Bex, was struggling with her infertility, she never expected to one day have four children – let alone three of them be triplets.
Those three triplets are now 16 weeks old (though they should be 5 weeks old!) and whilst in the thick of adjusting to life at home after NICU, Bex kindly agreed to come on the podcast and share all the things that have come up for her over the last few months.
From giving birth surrounded by 25 people (numerous doctors for each baby), to going into labour at 29 weeks, to finding it all so surreal and disconnected, Bex lets us in on what it’s really like to have triplets, as well as a five-year-old and such a busy household.
If you find Bex relatable and would love to hear more from her, she’s also the author of “Mum’s The Word”, where she shares “the sh*t no one tells you about parenthood until it’s too late”, which we’ve linked below.
In this episode, we’re chatting about:
- Bex’s fertility journey and how she ended up pregnant with her triplets
- How Bex gave birth at 29 weeks surrounded by 25 people
- The negative emotions that came up for Bex at being in NICU unable to hold her children
- How Bex and her family are getting on now they’re at home after NICU
- Why Bex felt that community was so important to her after the triplets arrived
